Building upon Eastpak's expertise in the luggage industry, this project aims to penetrate a market often characterized by outdated and feminine-associated products by offering an innovative model in terms of utility and image, targeted towards a young and diverse audience.
A thorough analysis of existing shopping carts and Eastpak products was conducted. Following an intensive search for concepts and usage scenarios, my partner and I developed an idea where the cart is convertible into a backpack. Given Eastpak's iconic product status and considering that young individuals hesitate to invest in seldom-used shopping carts, this solution seemed most relevant.
The cart-backpack is designed to be convertible through an accordion system. A telescopic arm extends the fabric beneath the backpack to provide additional space.
A scaled-down prototype was created to validate feasibility and present the concept.
